The Markham Soccer Club is pleased to announce the 2007 inductees into the Hall of Fame. This year, five individuals and one team were chosen by the Selection Committee to join the 11 individuals inducted into the Hall last year. The presentations were made at the Markham Town Council Meeting on Nov 27th.

Don McColl
Don was the Convenor of the Men’s Indoor Competitive League in the late 1980s, Director of Adult Soccer in the early 1990s, Youth Rep Director in 2004 and 2005, Youth House League Coach 1992 to 2007 and a Competitive Team Coach 1994 to 2005. He has also been a player in the Men’s league throughout his time with the Club. He was the coach of one of the Club’s most successful Youth Competitive teams. That team is also honoured as this year’s Team of Distinction.

Marianne Castaldi
Marianne volunteered with the club from 1993 to 2003. She was a Convenor of Boys House League (1993), a Rep Committee Member (1993-94) and the Rep Director (1995 to 1999). She also volunteered in soccer outside the Club and held positions as Director - York Region Soccer Association, Member – Ontario Soccer Association Discipline Committee, Member – Ontario Soccer Association National Championship Committee and Director – Ontario Youth Soccer League.

Duilio Bagnarol
Duilio was a House League Coach from 1993-1995 and a Rep Coach from 1996-2002. He also held positions on the Board of Directors as Director of Sponsorship (2 years) and Director of Special Events (2 years). He was instrumental in starting and maintaining the momentum behind the Club’s Special Needs Soccer program. This started in 1998 and continues to operate under the guidance of Duilio and his wife Susanne with active support from his older children (as mentors). He has been an Assistant Technical Director with responsibility for the Micro Soccer age groups since 2005.

Sandra Wells
Sandra volunteered with the club from 1994 to 2007. She held positions as House League Convenor (1994), House League Director Indoor (1994), House League Director Outdoor (1995 – 1999), Rep Director (2000-2001) and Discipline Consultant (2002-2007). She also held volunteer positions outside the Club as Director - York Region Soccer League and Director - Central Soccer League. She is still active as the Discipline Director with the Central Soccer League.

Shirley Wiggans
Shirley volunteered in the Club from 1993 to 2006. She held positions as a House League Convenor (1993 – 1995), House League Director (1996 – 2002), Rep Director (2002- 2003) and Chair-Person for MSC’s Hall of Fame Selection Committee (2006).

Team of Distinction
For the first time, a Team of Distinction will also be inducted. Fittingly, this was the 1986 Boys team of 2002 coached by Don McColl and Brian Bufton. This team had many successes including an Ontario Cup win and an Ontario Youth Soccer League Championship. A number of players were chosen for Provincial and National teams, quite a few obtained University scholarships and some had the opportunity to play professionally. The players on this team were: Robert Giacomi, Trevor Delpippo, Joshua Bascombe, Matthew Green, David Fegidero, Sherwin Emmanuel, Geordie MacNeill, Christian Rosa, Jason Lyn, Joel Lenius, Antonio Ferrazoli, Alec Milne, Marco Paunicoski, Roshard Gilbert, Ashkan Alavy, Callum Wheatley, Marc Marzilli and Mario Ivos. The other team staff were John Lenius (Manager) and Manny Oxciano (Trainer).
